Join us for each of the Sundays in Advent/Christmas as we prepare for and celebrate the Lord's arrival. We'll consider some of the time-honored, culturally-beloved, not-especially-religious traditions of the season that, nonetheless, can inform our faith in Jesus Christ in surprising ways. This is a great opportunity to invite a friend so come to church with you and experience the Reason for the Season.
UMCOR is accepting emergency offerings to alleviate suffering in these two catastrophic events. Please make your check out to Thalia UMC and write either "USA Midwest Tornado" or "Philippine Typhoon" in the memo line. 100% of your gift will be used to help those in need.
This fun event starts in the Welcome Center with a potluck dinner. The main dish will be provided; please bring a side dish to share. After dinner, we will walk through the church neighborhood and sing carols. Please sigh up for this event on the sheet posted near the Directors Office so we can get a head-count to organize and order food. Direct your questions to Cathy Graham, Grace Holdren or Anne-Marie Schwartz.
A sign-up list is posted on the Library door or you can call Elinor Dalton at 757-306-1355.
Funds raised from the craft show will go to support the Ties That Bind Ministry at Thalia.
There will also be a bake sale during the show to raise funds for Thalia's Food Pantry and we are calling all "bakers" to donate baked goods. Baked goods can be delivered to the church Thursday evening, early Friday morning and early Saturday morning, November 14 - 16.
Bring your family and friends to the Welcome Center to enjoy a home cooked meal.
Menu will be: Roasted Pork Loin, Apricot Chutney, Seasoned redskin mashed potatoes, String bean medley and Delicious cake and ice cream for dessert. Mary McKinney and Linda Coker are your chefs.
The Thalia Singers will entertain with patriotic-themed music as you dine.
Tickets are $10 for ages 7 and up; $5 ages 6 and below. All funds go to support the recent bathroom renovations.
